We had the pleasure of travelling to the Czech Republic last month and the National Museum in Prague had some fantastic rocks. Would love to have this collection!

A smooth polished stone brought forth to land by an ancient churning sea often rested in the pockets and palms of many of our early ancestors. Also called “Palm Stones” and “Thumb Stones“, the idea of rubbing a stone in between the thumb and forefinger is almost as ancient as the stones themselves. Worry stones in antiquity were typically taken from a body of water, and were smooth, small, and round or oval in shape.
Our bodies understand naturally what helps us to relax and what relieves stress. Having true therapeutic properties, even modern therapists agree with this, rubbing them in between thumb and forefinger helps free your life from worries. Through a process called acupressure, rubbing the stones between our fingers or in our palms stimulates the numerous nerve endings. These points called pressure points connect to meridians within our bodies which stimulate aspects of the brain. This allows the release of endorphins, creating a naturally calming and euphoric effect. Coming into the forefront in the alternative medicine communities in the 1970’s, worry stones have increased in popularity, moving into the realm of therapeutic applications specifically for relieving stress, tension and anxiety. Rubbing on a worry stone certainly relieves stress. When combined with prayer, meditation and intention, this can have multiple benefits. Modern day alternative therapies incorporate semi-precious gemstones to apply a wide range of healing techniques. At Precision Pendulum, our worry stones come in different shapes and styles. All are oval shaped and have a dome-like shape on one side of the stone. Some have a thumb-sized indentation and some have a flat surface on the other side of the stone. Some have a word engraved into them, such as SMILE, HEAL, and PEACE. Make sure that you read the item description to see which types you are buying. All are naturally beautiful. Many people are scared for themselves and their loved ones right now and with good reasons. But these are exactly the times when you need to remain calm and focused, think through everything you do and protect yourself against negative influences and turbulent minds.
Here are our three best crystals to help you keep peace of mind. 1. Black Tourmaline Black Tourmaline is one of the top stones for crystal healing because it is such a strong protector. It transmutes negative energy so that energy is freed up to support your highest good. As a first chakra stone, black tourmaline is grounding and balancing for the emotions. Black Tourmaline is also a protective stone which repels and blocks negative energies. It helps you stay centred and calm and able to deal with your life as it comes. If you tend to worry and stress out about life, black tourmaline can help you find a more even-keel emotional state and establish it as your new set-point. 2. Selenite Selenite is a multipurpose stone with a strong energetic vibration that is cleansing, purifying, protective and amplifying. Combined with its peaceful energy, this is an excellent choice for when you are practicing meditation and yoga, and is recommended for students and businesses. Selenite sweetens any space it is in, dissolving tension, stress, and negativity.,while opening up the mind and making the user more alert. When doubt or confusion set in, allow Selenite to help expand your awareness and open you up to new possibilities. 3. Black Obsidian Black Obsidian is a teacher stone and a “Warrior of Truth” Obsidian draws one inward to the center of the Self, to the place of truth. A powerful stone for protection, aura cleansing and healing. Balances the chakras, especially good for releasing blockages. Black obsidian resonates with the root/base chakra. As humans, it’s important to constantly be using our creative energies to keep them free-flowing at ease. Obsidian assists in breaking through growth barriers to open new horizons. Promotes qualities of compassion and strength. We wish everyone a very happy Chinese New Year and Australia Day 2020! If you do not give a Rat's behind (Whaddayaknow, it's the Rat Year!) about either, let's enjoy the long weekend anyway. :-)
Precision Pendulum wishes everybody the merriest of Merry Christmas and the happiest of Happy New Year. Thank you everyone who has supported us throughout the year, all our customers and friends who have so faithfully given us such joy in our work. We hope to improve on the high standards we set ourselves in 2020.
So another year has almost passed. Where has it gone? I cannot believe we are entering December already. Only barely one month left to get ready for 2020. Another year, another set of goals and resolutions. How do I better myself in 2020? What do I want to achieve? Get rid of the negatives and get more of the positives. I want to be a better person mentally and physically, to remain happy and healthy. But first, I need to look back at what has been happening to me personally this year, what has worked, what hasn’t?
The beauty of crystals has always made me happy for as long as I can remember, and I always fall back on my crystals when I feel down. Crystals are in every part of my life. Every end of the year I sit down and set my goals for the new year ahead. If I want more love for the year ahead then I would put more Rose Quartz around the house. If I want to lift myself and feel more positive then I would put more Selenite and Black Tourmaline everywhere. It is very important to plan ahead and use crystals to help you achieve your goals. Look back in 2019 and ask yourself these questions before you start writing down your goals for 2020: -What were your successes or positives of the year? -Did you reach all the main goals that you had set for this year? Why or why not? -Which goals are unfinished? Do you still want to achieve those goals? -And finally, you still have to face them: What were your biggest disappointments or negatives of the year? It is always good to look back and reminisce about your successes and happy times. They make you happy again reliving those moments, make you smile, lift your spirit, you know there are many positives in your life. These moments do not need to be great successes, they can be quite innocent and unnoticeable to other people. I took up swimming again after a 30-year break this year. I used to swim regularly when I was in school, doing laps for 2000 to 3000 metres twice a week. Then I just stopped. Late January this year, I decided to pick up swimming again after a personal tragedy that I will talk about later here. Picking up swimming again was certainly not a goal I had set last year, but I consider it a huge personal victory after my loss. Did I achieve all the main goals I had set for this year? No. What would I do next year if I had? J We can always find a million excuses for not achieving our goals, but it is important to be honest with ourselves. Don’t be too hard or too soft, but be honest. Honesty to yourself does not mean that you have to blurt it out to every second person on the street. It’s enough to admit what needs to be improved so that you can better yourself next year. After all, what is life without goals? Given a year and new light, new understanding, new maturity, new circumstances, some goals may no longer be important to you. Or you realise that becoming a billionaire in one year is not THAT easy after all. It is perfectly ok to drop some unfinished goals, sometimes you need to clean your plate and start anew. But don’t be too defeatist, not all goals can be achieved within a year. If you really want it you have to work hard towards it. Chase it tirelessly and grab on it like a pitbull when you get it. One of the hardest things in life is to face your failures, disappointments, and negatives. But you still have to do it to better yourself. How else would you know your own shortcomings without looking back at your failures? How else can you move on without first looking at your biggest loss in the eye? My dog, Kajsa, passed away on January 17th this year. She came to me from a dog pound when she was only two and she had been my companion for 15 years. I know 17 was a grand old age for a pooch, but she was the daughter I never had and I had been dreading the day she would pass for a couple of years. When it happened, I was so deep in sorrow I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat, I could barely function. I was in such a bad state that I decided that I had to do something drastic. I forced myself to walk 10 kms each day as well as walking 6 kms return to the swimming pool to swim twice a week. Physical exercise eases your mind off negative thoughts. It worked. I still miss Kajsa everyday but I can deal with my grief now and move on with life. I also started creating small crystal garden in pots, sort of my version of Zen gardens with beautiful crystals for my own enjoyment. One thing to remember with this year coming to the end, very fitting and it is a motto I have embraced for better or for worse – “This, too, shall pass”. When life is good, enjoy it, but be nice to those less fortunate because the Wheel of Life turns constantly. And when life is not so good, remember that that, too, shall pass and keep on smiling. Our homes are deeply personal spaces. They should be our sanctuary, our safe haven. They reflect our personality and our interests, and they reflect our energy and vibes. When there’s tension between people in the home, the home energy feels tense. When you’re sad or grieving, the home holds the space of that darkness. And when your mind is cluttered with chaotic thoughts, disarray will often manifest within the home as well. It is so important to not only cleanse the energy of the home regularly, but also fill it back up with love and light. The more you transform the home into a space of radiant positivity, the more you will inspire your spirit to vibrate at the same level. Crystals for the home help you to set the tone for your space and spirit.

It is the quintessential stone for rediscovering self-love, as it brings you to realise that you deserve the same compassion and understanding that you give to others. Those with families can benefit from rose quartz especially. With a soft energy, rose quartz soothes the remaining tensions from the day, and keeps you from going to sleep angry as it influences empathy, forgiveness, and lowered stress. It is the place where you are at your most basic self. Most stones can go into the bathroom but, as the primary cleansing stone, Clear Quartz is a perfect asset to this space. By connecting with Clear Quartz, you can purify your spirit at the same time as you cleanse your body. Have it by the shower or bath to enhance the energy of cleansing. Clear Quartz is an amplifier, and works to magnify the energy of other stones in its vicinity. Crystals for the Garden This combination of crystals for the garden works as well for green thumbed savants as for their less cultivation-capable friends. Boost your confidence and the energy of your garden with these crystals for the home, and give gardening another try. Green Aventurine guides earthly energy up into the roots to pulse vitality throughout your plants. Bury it into the soil of your garden or potted plant with clear quartz for energy amplification. Quartz Crystal can also aid you in programming your garden with the intentions you want to set. Set those intentions with a quick meditation in the garden. Focus on what you want for your plants, and how you want to treat them. If watering is something you always forget, set an intention to be more mindful and attentive to your garden, and then bury the quartz into the earth. You can also sprinkle crystal chips on the top soil of the pots, they are great decorations that add vibrant colours to your garden. Animals and pets can respond very quickly to the healing energy of crystals and stones. However, remember to seek the best available competent medical advice for your pet or animal. Using crystals for healing pets and animals is not intended to, nor should it, replace the advice of a professionally qualified veterinarian.
It is very helpful to dedicate and program the stones & crystals you will be using to heal your pet. Here are a few suggestions on how to use stones and crystals to heal your pet. (These are just some guidelines - use your intuition to come up with more) •Place up to three stones or crystals under your pet's bed for up to two weeks. You can put them in a pouch if you'd like. Position the stones so that they are comfortable. If the crystal energy is too intense, your pet won't want to rest in their bed. If your pet likes the crystals, you should see an improvement within a few days. •Hold the crystal or stone in your hand. Starting a few inches away from the affected area, rotate the crystal clock-wise. Go slowly, breathing gently and evenly. Animals express their feelings with movement, so watch to see if your pet wants more or tries to move away. •Put up to three crystals (no more) in a small pouch that can be attached to your pet's collar. Be careful that the pouch doesn't interfere with movement or can get caught on anything. •Warm up the crystals in the sun before beginning healing. The sun provides masculine, yang energy to the stones. Apply the warm crystals to the affected area. •If you are using a bag of ice to reduce swelling or inflammation, try putting a few pieces of Smokey Quartz in the bag of ice. It will help unblock over-active or inflamed areas. •Create a mandala or circle of crystals around your pet. You can also try a Star of David formation with your pet in the middle. Leave your pet there for up to 20 minutes. Your pet will walk out when they’ve had enough! •Place crystals or stones near a photograph of your pet, pointing towards the picture. This will help send long-distance healing and protection to your pet. Don’t be embarrassed about using healing crystals and minerals to help your pet. The practice is becoming common place these days as more and more people use natural methods to maintain their own health and well-being. Jewellery also showed wealth and status and offered protection from evil. This protection was available for those dead or alive and was thought to bring prosperity in both the present and the afterlife.
There was a variety of jewellery including amulets, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, rings, headwear, anklets, diadems, collars and insignia. Many of the ancient Egyptian methods for cutting gemstones have been lost, but the quality is still there today. Although the Egyptians had access to many precious gemstones, they preferred to use softer, semi-precious stones such as carnelian, jasper, lapis lazuli, malachite, quartz and turquoise. The colour of the jewellery and gemstones was very important to the Egyptians, since certain colours were thought to provide protection against evil and good luck. In many ancient cultures royalty was represented by the colour blue, and this was especially true in ancient Egypt, making lapis lazuli one of the most prized of all gemstones. Turquoise is another opaque gemstone that was favoured by the Egyptians. The colouring is similar to that of the tropical sea and it was used to represent joy, cleanliness and pleasure. The infamous golden burial mask of King Tut was inlaid with turquoise, lapis lazuli and carnelian. Most of the raw materials that were used to make jewellery were found in or near Egypt, but certain prized materials such as lapis lazuli were imported from as far away as Afghanistan. Queen Cleopatra's favourite gemstone was emerald, and she even gifted foreign dignities emeralds carved in her likeness. Emeralds were mined locally near the Red Sea. Egypt held the monopoly on emeralds till the 16th century. Today, an emerald in perfect condition is worth far more than a white diamond due to the rarity of the stone. Egyptians linked emeralds to fertility, immortality, rejuvenation and eternal spring. Today, a lady wearing an elegant emerald necklace or ring can feel just as much of a queen as Cleopatra. For ancient Egyptians, the colour of each gemstone had a different meaning. For example jewellery that was green was meant to symbolise fertility and the success of new crops, while a recently deceased person would wear a red-colored necklace on their throat to satisfy Isis's hunger for blood. The rings worn by men in ancient Egypt were not just ornamental, they were a necessary tool of administration. Official documents were not signed, but sealed, and therefore authenticated. The poor man's seal was a simple copper or silver ring while the rich man's seal was an elaborate jewel. The ring would be set with a precious stone engraved with the owner's emblem such as a scorpion, lion or a hawk. The Egyptian scarab beetle was used as an amulet or a good luck charm by both the rich and the poor. A depiction of a scarab beetle was used in the making of various types of pendants, bracelets, rings and necklaces. Scarab jewellery was believed to hold strong magical and religious powers and the scarab was a symbol of rebirth. The name of the owner was inscribed on the flat base of the scarab to ensure that protection would be bestowed upon the wearer. Scarab pendants, bracelets, rings and necklaces were often made of precious or semi-precious jewels such as carnelian, lapis lazuli and turquoise. Due to the religious beliefs of the ancient Egyptians, jewellery items were much needed by the deceased in the afterlife, and an abundance of jewellery was buried with the dead. In fact, ancient Egyptians prepared themselves from early life to the day they died by collecting as much protective jewellery as possible to be buried with them. Immense treasures and jewellery were often buried with the dead for use in the afterlife. The Tree of Life, or Sacred Tree, carries significant meanings in both religious and spiritual philosophies. The Tree of Knowledge, connecting to heaven and the underworld, and the Tree of Life, connecting all forms of creation, are both forms of the world tree or cosmic tree, and are often portrayed as the same tree.
As a symbol, the Tree of Life goes all the way back to ancient times. The oldest known example was found in the Domuztepe excavations in Turkey, which dates back to about 7000 BC. It is believed that the symbol spread from there in various ways. A similar depiction of the tree was discovered in the Acadians, which dates back to 3000 BC. The symbols depicted a pine tree, and because pine trees do not die, the symbols are believed to be the first depictions of the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life also has strong significance to the Ancient Celts. It represented harmony and balance and was an important symbol in the Celtic culture. They believed it had magical powers so when they cleared their lands, they would leave one single tree standing in the middle. They would hold their important gatherings under this tree and it was a very serious crime to cut it down. Multiple cultures have different mythologies involving the Tree of Life. References to the symbol have been found in Ancient Egypt, Ancient Iran, Ancient Mesopotamia and Urartu, and many more places. The symbol was widely recognised and used in ancient cultures so it is difficult to pinpoint its exact origins and how it spread throughout the world. While the Tree of Life symbolises many different things, there are some common themes that the symbol represents across all cultures and religions. A Connection to Everything: The Tree of Life commonly represents the interconnectedness of everything in the universe. It symbolises togetherness and serves as a reminder that you are never alone or isolated, but rather that you are connected to the world. The roots of the Tree of Life dig deep and spread into the earth, thereby accepting nourishment from Mother Earth, and its branches reach up into the sky, accepting energy from the sun and moon. Ancestry, Family, and Fertility: The Tree of Life symbol also represents the connection to one’s family and ancestors. The Tree of Life has an intricate network of branches that represents how a family grows and expands throughout many generations. It also symbolises fertility as it always finds a way to keep growing, through seeds or new saplings, and is lush and green, which signifies its vitality. Growth and Strength: A tree is a universal symbol of strength and growth as they stand tall and strong all over the world. They spread their roots deep into the soil to ground and stabilise themselves. Trees can weather the toughest of storms, which is why they are such a prominent symbol for strength. The Tree of Life represents growth as a tree starts out as a small, delicate sapling and grows over a long time into a giant, strong tree. The tree grows up and outwards, representing how a person grows stronger and increases their knowledge and experiences throughout their lifetime. Individuality: The Tree of Life symbolises one's individuality as trees are all unique with their branches sprouting at different points and in different directions. It symbolises a person's personal growth into a unique human being as different experiences shape them into who they are. Over time, trees gain more unique characteristics, as branches break off, new ones grow, and as the weather takes its toll - all throughout which the tree remains strong and sturdy. This is a metaphor for how people grow and change throughout their lifetime and how their unique experiences mold them and enhance their individuality. Immortality and Rebirth: The Tree of Life is a symbol for rebirth as trees lose their leaves and seem to be dead during winter, but then new buds appear and new, fresh leaves unfurl during the spring. This represents the beginning of a new life and a fresh start. The Tree of Life also symbolises immortality because even as the tree grows old, it creates seeds that carry its essence so it lives on through new saplings. Peace: Trees have always evoked a sense of calm and peace so it is unsurprising that the Tree of Life is also a symbol for peacefulness and relaxation. Trees have a relaxing presence as they stand tall and still while their leaves flutter in the breeze. The Tree of Life serves as a reminder for the unique, calming feeling that one gets from trees. |
